New Year’s Resolutions

Now that we are a little over a month into the new year let’s really think about what we want to this year. There are some things that we could do that would have some long term results. Often times, when people think about new year’s resolution they will think about improving their physical being or working on things that are more personal. But what if we think out of the box a little bit. What are some new year’s resolutions that you can make for the good of all people? Or maybe some that would improve your home? Maybe something to improve your neighborhood? Here are some “out of the box” New Year’s Resolutions.

Making Your Home More Green

One great New year’s Resolution is to lower your carbon footprint for the year. Some great ways that you can improve your quality of life, as well as making your home a greener home, is to add in several new propane powered appliances. Using propane is a much greener energy source. Using propane is greener than both gasoline and electricity. Refineries that make gasoline and power plants both emit a huge amount of greenhouse gases! Whereas propane is much safer form of energy. You can replace many appliances from refrigerators, to stoves, to furnaces, to water heaters ect!!! You can even get a generator that will power your entire home and then you can run your whole home off of propane!

Getting there

Instead of driving everywhere maybe you can make a resolution to take alternative transportation. Perhaps you can take advantage of your local public transportation. You can organize a rideshare with others who work with or around you. You can also take up walking, running, jogging, or riding bikes to get some simple close buy errands done! Instead of taking your car to your local market take a brisk walk. If you are truly committed to making your carbon footprint smaller then you can look into converting your gasoline powered vehicle to a propane powered vehicle. You can also buy a brand new car that is powered by battery or by propane! What a great way to help everyone!

One great thing that you can do to make the world a better place is to organize your neighbors and community members into doing a clean up day. Many towns are starting to do community clean up days. Not only does this practice benefit the environment but it makes your neighborhood safer for your children. This will also make your community have more curb appeal. The nicer your community looks the the more desirable it is. Nicer communities often have better funded schools. Another thing you can do is organize and “adopt a family.” You and others can anonymously choose a local family who trouble making their bills this winter. You can donate money or even propane to help them stay warm this winter!

We all want our world to be a better place. Whether is is personally or as a whole there are many things that we can do to make it that way. Remember,  it only takes a little to make a big impact on many lives. Let’s start this new year off right by making the world a little better together.
