Not only does propane have many uses including powering your appliances, homes, vehicles, and grills but it also supports an important industry  in the United States! It is not common knowledge that a large amount of the propane used in the United States comes straight from the U.S itself. Not only is propane abundantly available here but it is also clean burning, and affordable. One of the best things we can do for ourselves and our country is buy American products and support American industries!

Availability and Affordability

The majority of propane in the world is supported by exports from the U.S.! About 90% of the propane used in the United States is produced right here in our country. It is the third most used fuel in this country. Most of the other Propane that we use in the U.S. comes from Mexico and Canada. Propane is easily available  to us here in the United states. Unfortunately, most of the petroleum that we use here is imported from Politically unstable countries. This is why the prices of oil and gasoline is ever increasing while the demand is growing. We have no control over the prices from outside markets. Propane is much cheaper and much more environmentally friendly.  It is a non toxic fuel that burns clean. Using a locally sourced fuel is a great choice because it is more affordable and more abundantly available to us.

Growing our Economy

The propane business is ever growing! With many people realizing what a great source of fuel the industry is booming. It is also creating more industries based in encompassing the usage of propane. For example, there are now companies that make propane appliances, propane furnaces, propane vehicles, propane generators  and much much more! In the United States just propane industry supports more than 145,00 jobs! There are also at least 8,500 retailers of propane in the country. This is great for the country and the people. In 2016 there was an increase of 30% exports of propane! This is great news for the U.S. economy! When we have and increase in propane use and exports then we will buy less oil from other countries thus making our own economy stronger. Another reason why propane is great for our economy in that over eight-hundred thousand farms in the U.S. use it!

Preserving Our Environment

With the ever increasing threat of climate change we are always looking for a way to preserve our natural resources. Propane is a byproduct of crude oil and natural gas. It burns much cleaner than other sources of energy. Unfortunately, many of the power plants that we get our electricity from emit extremely large amounts of greenhouse gases into our ozone. This is very dangerous and it is ever increasing due to huge amounts of energy consumption. Propane is nontoxic and considered a Clean fuel under The Clean Air Act of 1990. The propane industry is helping our country by improving the quality of the air we breath.

Propane has an important place in the American economy. In this day and age the U.S. had limited exports, propane helps us stay an important part of the world marketplace. With propane being the byproduct of Oil and Natural Gas it makes the availability abundant. With increasing evidence that propane is a very viable fuel source and the increasing products that are being made to support propane the industry will only grow and continue to benefit the American economy.
